EXPLORATORY FACTOR ANALYSIS OF IRANIAN CONSTRUCTION LABOR PRODUCTIVITY
Construction projects labor costs consist 30 to 50% of overall project costs. Hence, numerous studies have been done on the labor productivity issue. Besides, use of statistical analysis in order to identify critical features in construction engineering practice is reasonably wide. This study attempted to identify the new potential factors and evaluate the most significant factors. To this aim, the objective of study is to identify potential factors affecting labor productivity in the current state of Iran construction industry and evaluate them. Therefore, an intensive literature review has been done to identify the most critical factors affecting labor productivity. Consequently, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) applied to reduce the number of variables. From the study, the authors find out that “Lack of required tools and/or equipment”,” Age”, “Rework”, “Payment delays”, “Accidents during construction” and “Misunderstanding between labors” are the most dominant affectingfactors on labor productivity in Iran construction industry. The results of the study seem to be efficient for any participants in the construction industry and academia, particularly those who are involved in Iran or Middle East construction projects.
